THUNDER BAY — Two women face charges after assaulting each other during a stabbing incident.

Thunder Bay police said officers were called to the intersection of Highway 61 and Neebing Avenue on Wednesday afternoon after receiving a weapons call.

Police said officers learned a female victim had been stabbed, while an accused had been seen running toward Arthur Street West.

The responding officers found a woman with serious injuries. She was taken to hospital by paramedics. A suspect was located and taken into custody.

Police said two women had been passengers in a vehicle that was travelling along Highway 61 when they became involved in an argument, which turned physical.

The investigation determined the two assaulted each other, leading to both facing charges, police said.

A 43-year-old is charged with aggravated assault, while a 30-year-old is charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and two counts of failure to comply with a release order.

They both appeared in bail court on Thursday and remain in custody with future appearances.
