WHITE RIVER, Ont. — Ontario Provincial Police laid multiple charges against two people from southern Ontario after an incident Sunday in White River.

OPP were initially called about a theft of gas from a local business.

A short time later, officers spotted the suspects' vehicle southbound on Highway 17 near Wawa.

They were stopped and arrested without incident.

Further investigation revealed that the pair was in possession of more stolen property, including the SUV they were riding in.

A 39-year old man and a 34-year-old woman, both from Newmarket, Ontario, were charged with theft, possession of property obtained by crime, and failure to comply with release orders and a probation order.

They were released from custody with a promise to appear in court in September.
