Two men charged in violent Carrie Street assault

The two men involved in a violent altercation at a Carrie Street residence that saw one man with his throat cut have been charged with aggravated assault.

A violent altercation on Carrie Street that sent two men to hospital has resulted in aggravated assault charges.

THUNDER BAY - Two men have been charged following a violent altercation on the city’s north side that resulted in one man’s throat being cut and stab wounds to the back.

According to a Thunder Bay Police media release, a 23-year-old Ottawa man and 27-year-old Thunder Bay man have both been charged with aggravated assault.

The incident took place just before 11 a.m. on Wednesday at a residence on the corner of Carrie Street and Martha Street.

A witness who was in the area at the time of the incident said a man was yelling for help and appeared to have his throat cut and a stab wound to the back.

A second man with blood on his hands from what appeared to be cuts was seen being placed in handcuffs by Thunder Bay Police.

Both men were transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre under police custody and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The two men made court appearances Thursday morning and have been remanded for a court appearance Friday morning.

The investigation is ongoing.
