THUNDER BAY — The number of candidates seeking a seat on Thunder Bay city council in the October election has grown to 32.
As of Tuesday afternoon, two new candidates had filed their nomination papers, one for councillor-at-large and one in Red River ward.
Brian Tsubouchi joined the race for the five at-large seats, becoming the 11th contestant.
In Red River, Michael Zussino is the third candidate.
The nomination deadline of Aug. 19 is approaching rapidly.
So far, Northwood ward has the largest number of candidates, with four.
In addition to Red River, the Westfort and Neebing wards have three candidates apiece.
McKellar ward has two entrants, while Current River and McIntyre have one each.
To date, there are four registered candidates for the mayor's chair.
