THUNDER BAY — The number of candidates seeking the five seats for councillor-at-large in Thunder Bay's Oct. 24 municipal election has grown by two.
Incumbent Mark Bentz confirmed Wednesday that he will seek re-election.
Dino Menei is also running for councillor-at-large.
He filed his nomination papers on Monday.
So far, the other declared candidates in the race are Brian Phillips, Kasey Etreni, Iqbal Khan, Adetunde Ogunberu and Marilyn Cully.
In the seven wards, to date there are two candidates each in Red River, McKellar, and Westfort; three candidates in Northwood and Neebing; one candidate in Current River; and no declared candidate in McIntyre.
Four people have filed nomination papers for mayor.
The deadline for candidates to register is Aug. 19.
