RED LAKE, Ont. - Two new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Red Lake, about 550 kilometres west of Thunder Bay. There are now 19 confirmed cases across northwestern Ontario.

The Northwestern Health Unit announced the cases Monday, saying they are both travel-related. The total number of cases in their jurisdiction now stands at six. The health unit said it had conducted a thorough investigation of the new cases.

"Anyone affected has been contacted and are in quarantine," the organization said in a social media post, adding residents in the region should assume COVID-19 is present in their community.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit announced its 13th case on Sunday.
