Two new COVID-19 cases in Thunder Bay area

Active cases remain at 29 as health unit announces two new cases, with one having no known exposure category

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay District Health Unit announced two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 Saturday.

Both involve individuals in Thunder Bay and the surrounding areas, which includes Oliver Paipoonge, Neebing, Gillies, Shuniah, Conmee, O'Connor, and some unorganized territories.

One is considered the result of close contact with an existing case, while the health unit has not yet determined how the second person was exposed to the virus.

The number of active cases in the Thunder Bay district remains at 29, the health unit reported, with two previous cases considered resolved.

Both individuals are self-isolating, the health unit reported.

According to health unit data updated Saturday at 12:40 p.m., none of the active cases are currently hospitalized.
