THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay’s two newest cases of COVID-19 are both related to travel outside of the region.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) reported the cases Friday afternoon, bringing the number of active cases in the region to four.

Both cases involve individuals in the Thunder Bay area, which includes Oliver Paipoonge, Neebing, Gillies, Shuniah, Conmee, O'Connor, and some unorganized territories.

The onset dates for the cases are listed as Oct. 25 and Oct. 23. That represents the earliest date of either symptom onset, specimen collection, laboratory testing, or when the case was reported to the TBDHU.

The health unit no longer reports details such as the age or gender of new cases, though those are made public through provincial data usually published the following day.

The TBDHU has now reported a total of 117 confirmed cases.
