THUNDER BAY — Two people, one of whom was a bystander, were stabbed outside a north side bar just half an hour into the new year.

Thunder Bay police officers were called to a Cumberland Street South address just before 12:35 a.m. Sunday after receiving reports of an assault with a weapon.

Police said two men outside a bar got into an altercation, which became physical, and led to one of the individuals getting stabbed. A woman not involved in the altercation was also stabbed when she left a nearby bar and found herself in the middle of the incident.

Both people were taken to hospital by paramedics and were treated for injuries not considered to be life threatening. They both have since been released from hospital.

Police said investigators are working to identify the suspect involved in the incident.
