Two people injured in Oliver Road/Balmoral St. collision

Police asked motorists to avoid the intersection while their investigation continued.

THUNDER BAY — Thunder Bay Police are investigating a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

Emergency first responders were initially dispatched just before 2 p.m. Monday to the intersection of Balmoral Street and Oliver Road.

Police learned that a pedestrian had been struck by a pickup truck, which then came into contact with another motor vehicle.

The pedestrian and the driver of the second vehicle both sustained injuries.

The motorist's injuries were described as minor, but the pedestrian was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further evaluation and treatment.

The extent of the individual's injuries was unknown as of late Monday afternoon.

Police continued to hold the intersection, and asked motorists to avoid the area until further notice.
