THUNDER BAY – Two employees at the Real Canadian Superstore recently tested positive for COVID-19, the company has confirmed.
The store has worked with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit to minimize risk, said a representative for parent company Loblaw. That has included increased sanitization protocols, additional cleaning, and enforcing social distancing practices in the store, they added.
Other staff who worked closely with the individuals are self-isolating, the company reported. The risk to customers was believed to be low, the company said, but directed detailed questions to the health unit, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The cases were not publicly announced by the health unit. Loblaw discloses cases at its stores via a section on its website.
The health unit reports COVID-19 exposure in locations involving the public when it’s “unable to contact all individuals who may have been exposed," says its website.
According to an employee who asked to remain anonymous, one of the infected workers was last in the store on Feb. 23, while another was last in the store on March 4.
