Five people were sent to hospital after a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of High Street and Red River Road Friday afternoon.
The cars crashed at about 2:30 p.m. Friday and while North Central Fire Station district chief Val Lafontaine said he wasn’t sure yet what happened, all injuries appeared to be non life-threatening.
One woman’s arm may have been broken and the other injuries were believed to be bumps and bruises, he said. A young child was also taken to the hospital, but Lafontaine said he appeared to be fine.
"The little boy is going with his grandmother who was taking care of him and he’s just going because they’re together," he said. "He has no injuries. He was in his car seat."
Fire crews were also laying down fluid absorber where anti-freeze had leaked from one of the vehicles. Lafontaine said once it’s absorbed the liquid, they’ll sweep it off the road.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers directed traffic at the intersection as firefighters and paramedics attended to the victims of the crash.
Police on scene told tbnewswatch.com said it was too early to tell whether or not any of the drivers would be charged as a result of the collision.
No other information about the crash was immediately available.
