(THUNDER BAY, ON)- On Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at approximately 10:05 pm, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Superior North Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responded to a report of a two vehicle, and pedestrian collision on Highway 588.
The driver of a Nissan vehicle was stopped on Highway 588 and preparing to reverse into a driveway on Highway 588.
The male passenger in the vehicle exited the vehicle in order to assist the driver reversing into a driveway.
At this time, the driver of Chevrolet Cobalt approached the Nissan and collided with the front, driver’s side of the Nissan vehicle.
The driver of the Chevrolet Cobalt lost control, struck the pedestrian in the driveway, rolled the vehicle and came to a rest in the ditch.
Four people were transported to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
The 25 year old, male driver of the Nissan has been charged with Park on Highway -Interfere with Traffic contrary to section 170(12) of the Highway Traffic Act.
