FORT WILLIAM FIRST NATION, Ont. - Two women are back on solid ground after becoming trapped on Mount McKay.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to a 911 call from the two women who became trapped on the north face of the mountain shortly after 2 p.m.
First responders on the scene said the women became trapped in a trench made up of mostly shale and were unable to climb up or down. It is believed the women ventured down a path away from the Mount McKay lookout.
Fire crews descended the trench from above and climbed up from below at the base of Quarry Road to reach the two women. They were both transported down and picked up by their parents at the base of the mountain. There were no reports of any injuries.
