THUNDER BAY – Ronald Crevier says he’s been a long-time supporter of the Thunder Bay 50-50 draw, but this month he thought he’d do something a little different.
It paid off, big time.
“I support the Thunder Bay 50/50 each month, but for November I bought this ticket with my uncle Wayne since it was his 78th birthday,” Roland said. “I am speechless, I don’t even know what I’m going to do with the winnings.”
Crevier and his uncle, Wayne Bellamy, on Friday were informed by Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation president and CEO Glenn Craig they they’d won the November 50/50 draw, taking home a price of $580,238.
It’s the largest jackpot since this past May.
Tickets are now on sale for the December draw, which features a guaranteed minimum $1 million prize. Last December’s jackpot grew to a record $2.3 million.
There will be an early-bird prize worth $10,000 on Dec. 2, and a $25,000 early bird draw on Dec. 28. There will also be several $1,000 early-bird prizes.
The draw takes place on Dec. 30 and tickets, which must be purchased in Ontario, are available online at www.thunderbay5050.ca or at the foundation’s pop-up location near the food court at Intercity Shopping Centre.
