Unionized Dilico employees are closer to the picket line after the latest offer tabled by the company was rejected.

Employees rejected the recent offer from Dilico by 71 per cent. National CEP Representative Marvin Pupeza says members are fed up with heavy case loads, on-call shifts, and current wages.

“It’s creating stress in the workplace,” Pupeza said during an interview with CKPR Radio Friday.

“We’ve tried to address this with the employer for sometime and nothing has been forthcoming and members are saying it is time this is addressed.”

Pupeza says there are no talks planned with Dilico before the July 8 deadline.

Officials with Dilico say their final offer included wage increases and improved benefits, despite having their funding fixed for the next three years.

Acting Executive Director Darcia Borg says they have a detailed contingency plan in place, should the strike go ahead on July 8. And she added that they are working closely with their partners to minimize the effects on the children and families they serve.
