THUNDER BAY -- One of the United Way's most high-profile fundraisers has been cancelled for this year.
The annual Dodgeball Tournament was first postponed in the spring, and now it's been scrapped altogether.
Over the past eight years, the event raised over $160,000 for the United Way.
It was normally held at the Sportsdome, but organizers planned to move the ninth annual tournament to the Lakehead University Hangar this year.
The tournament was originally scheduled for April 2 and then delayed to June 4.
Now it's has been cancelled, without any explanation.
An e-mail from the organizers said all registration fees are being reimbursed. However, any pledges that were already collected and processed for the tournament will NOT be given a refund, due to tax receipts having been already printed.
Those pledges that aren't being refunded will be directed into a community fund for programs supported by the United Way.
