THUNDER BAY – The United Way of Thunder Bay has cooked up a great fundraiser to fight hunger in the city.
Joining forces with the Regional Food Distribution Association and the Dew Drop Inn, the United Way on Thursday will host its second annual Community Barbecue, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the RFDA headquarters at 570 Syndicate Ave. S.
Burgers, hotdogs, bison burgers, Dewey Dogs, French fries, chips, drinks and more will be on the menu. A mini donut truck will also be on hand to contribute desserts.
Food can be ordered either on the spot or pre-ordered in advance for pick-up.
A dunk-tank, featuring the likes of Coun. Peng You, Jason Veltri, Michael NItz and Rock 94’s Kaile Wanzuk will also be on site for an additional fundraiser. A 50/50 draw will also be held.
“The Community Barbecue is a fantastic opportunity for the local community to come together and support a common cause," said Jodie Wilson, director of philanthropy and community engagement, in a release issued by the United Way.
“This event is truly a community effort, and it’s been such a rewarding experience to see local individuals, organizations and partners unite to make a difference. We look forward to seeing everyone come out and enjoy the day all while providing support for those in need.”
There will also be a pay-it-forward option, a donation of $10 per meal to help feed a youth in need at the Thunder Bay Boys and Girls Club.
