THUNDER BAY — The first major winter-like storm of the season appears to be on its way to Thunder Bay and surrounding area.

Up to 15 centimetres of snow is expected to fall in portions of Northwestern Ontario and northwest of Lake Superior, which could lead to hazardous driving and walking conditions in the affected areas. The snow could last until Friday and freezing rain is a possibility for areas northwest of Lake Superior.

Northeastern Ontario could see up to 25 centimetres of snow as a result of the storm system.

Thursday’s high is expected to climb to 4 C, while Friday’s high is forecast to be -1 C, with a low of -10 C expected on Saturday.
