UPDATE: Additional charges pending for two accused GTA residents

Two residents charged earlier this week are facing additional charges after police find more cash and drugs.

Two GTA residents charged with drug trafficking offences earlier this week are expected to face additional charges as continued investigation led police to locate more cash and drugs.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were originally dispatched to a residential address in the 100 block of Simpson Street just before noon on Tuesday, Feb. 9 following reports of possible drug-trafficking activity.

When police arrived, they entered the home and learned two GTA residents were inside and connected to suspected drug trafficking. Police located and seized cash believed to have been obtained via drug trafficking and a quantity of suspected fentanyl.

Both suspects were arrested and transported to the TBPS headquarters at 1200 Balmoral Street.

Juvonte HYLTON, 24, of Brampton, Ont., is charged with:

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking

Nelowfer WALIZADEH, 22, of Mississauga, Ont., is charged with:

• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Obstruct Peace Officer
• Failure to Comply with a Judicial Release

Both appeared in bail court on Wednesday, Feb. 10 and were remanded into custody with future appearance dates.

A search warrant was later executed by members of the TBPS’s Intelligence Unit. As a result of that search police located and seized about $18,000 CAD and a quantity of Percocet pills.

As a result, additional charges against the two accused are pending. The investigation remains ongoing.
