A 22-year-old man was sent to hospital early Saturday morning critical condition after being involved in a north-side beating.

Thunder Bay Police spokesman Chris Adams said officers responded to a disturbance outside Cumberland Street’s Pier 61, an altercation that involved at least 10 people.

When police arrived several people involved fled the scene. Police found the victim on the ground suffering from serious injuries and transported him to hospital, where he remains.

“Investigators are trying to piece together the events that led up to the assaults. What’s really important now is there are a number of people who were present before officers arrived that definitely had some knowledge that would be a help to investigators,” Adams said.

“It’s important for those people to do the right thing and contact police and help with any information they may have.”

Anyone with information is asked to phone police at 684-1200 or Crime Stoppers at www.tipsubmit.com.
