UPDATE: Multiple outages affecting areas across the city

THUNDER BAY – At least three significant outages have resulted in thousands of people across the city being without power for periods of Wednesday.

Thunder Bay Hydro is more than 3,000 customers in the Arthur Street area don’t have electricity as a result of a pole fire.

The utility’s outage map shows the outage stretching along Arthur Street from James Street to Garden Avenue. It also extends through Northwood as far north as the Harbour Expressway.

By 4:30 p.m. the outage had been reduced to 50-100 customers just along Arthur Street.

Between 500 to 1,000 people are without power in Westfort as an outage extends from James Street east to Syndicate Avenue as far south as the Kaministiquia River. That outage appears to be resolved.

A third outage is affecting customers along Balmoral Street between William Street and Lithium Drive affecting 250-500 customers.
