Update: Three-vehicle collision sends two to hospital

Two people were sent to the hospital following a collision at the corner of Cumberland and Villa streets.

THUNDER BAY – A three-vehicle collision sent two motorcyclists to hospital late Friday evening.

Emergency response units were called to the intersection of Cumberland and Villa streets at 11:30 p.m.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers attended the scene and the road was closed to traffic while an investigation was conducted.

The investigation revealed that a Hyundai was southbound on Cumberland Street North, turning left onto Villa Street.

The Hyundai made a left turn into the path of two oncoming northbound motorcycles.

Police say both motorcycles struck the passenger side of the Hyundai.

The driver and passenger of the Hyundai were uninjured, but both drivers of the motorcycles suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Police have charged the driver of the Hyundai with an unsafe turning violation.
