UPDATE: Victim of aggravated assault at district jail in critical condition

The Thunder Bay Police Service is investigating an aggravated assault that took place at the Thunder Bay District Jail Wednesday afternoon.

Police were dispatched to the District Jail at 285 MacDougall Street shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 following reports of an incident that required police involvement.

Police have learned that a 25-year-old male was injured as the result of an assault.

The victim was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for treatment of his injuries. He remains at the hospital in critical condition.

Officers with the service’s Criminal Investigation Branch are now investigating this incident as an aggravated assault.
