THUNDER BAY — Thousands of Thunder Bay voters were looking to change their ward councillor in Monday's election.

In Westfort, final unofficial results showed Kristen Oliver received about 850 votes more than Frank Scarcello, and 1500 votes more than incumbent Joe Virdiramo.

In Neebing, Cody Fraser also led incumbent Linda Rydholm, but with a much smaller margin, 97 votes.

Two other wards will be represented by newcomers because the incumbents did not seek re-election.

In McIntyre, Albert Aiello had a healthy 700-vote lead over Wesley Ramage.

In McKellar, Brian Hamilton held a 400-plus vote lead margin Ashley Nurmela.

Elsewhere, incumbent Andrew Foulds easily retained Current River ward, with a lead of about 1700 votes over Jamie Cressman,

Incumbent Brian McKinnon narrowly defeated David George Noonan, by roughly 200 votes, in Red River.

Finally, in Northwood, incumbent Shelby Ch'ng finished well ahead of challenger Mo El Kahil, leading by 1700 votes.
