DRYDEN, ON — A Justice of the Peace has levied $2500 in fines against a U.S. fisherman who violated Ontario fishery regulations.
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, the Wisconsin man was in a party that was checked by conservation officers after a day of fishing on Good Lake, north of Dryden, in July.
The officers then continued their inspection at his seasonal camp, where they found he had six walleye more than the legal possession limit.
In addition, some of the walleye that were inspected had been packed in a way that made it difficult to count them.
The man was fined $1800 for the over-limit, and another $700 for improperly packing the fish.
