U.S. Customs seizes counterfeit electronics from cargo containers (3 Photos)

Illegally branded products arriving from Canada included nearly 1,500 TVs.

INTERNATIONAL FALLS, Minnesota — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers have recently confiscated shipments of counterfeit electronic products which ordinarily would have an estimated retail value of more than $1,000,000.

Officers found the items after inspecting three rail containers on Canadian trains that entered the U.S. at the Fort Frances/International Falls border crossing.

Inspections were conducted at the train depot in Ranier, Minnesota, adjacent to International Falls.

According to American officials, the illegal products included nearly 1,500 LED televisions as well as fuel pump pricing displays and counterfeit Samsung and Apple chargers.

The products, they said, are in violation of intellectual property rights regulations and international trade laws.

In recent years, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has seized numerous previous shipments of counterfeit products which arrived in a British Columbia port and were then shipped across Canada by train before crossing into the U.S. at Fort Frances.
