U.S. couple fined nearly $5K for over fishing

Two U.S. residents have been fined a total of $4,600 for a fishing offence. Richard Rude and Brenda Rude of Oberlin, Kansas, pleaded guilty to possessing an over-limit of fish and were fined $2,400 and $2,200 respectively.

Two U.S. residents have been fined a total of $4,600 for a fishing offence.

Richard Rude and Brenda Rude of Oberlin, Kansas, pleaded guilty to possessing an over-limit of fish and were fined $2,400 and $2,200 respectively.

Court heard that on August 27, 2016, an Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry conservation officer contacted Richard Rude and Brenda Rude, who were staying at a fishing resort south of Sioux Lookout.

A fisheries inspection revealed they possessed 21 walleye and two northern pike over the conservation fishing licence limit.

Justice of the Peace Daisy Hoppe heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Sioux Lookout, on November 17, 2016.
