THUNDER BAY – Indigenous residents of Thunder Bay born in 1966 and earlier can sign up for vaccination clinics starting on Wednesday, health agencies have announced.

Clinics are scheduled for March 30 through April 1 at the Coliseum and Heritage buildings on the CLE grounds.

Bookings are expected to open at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday online at a website set up by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, or over the phone at (807) 624-1871 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Anyone born in 1966 or earlier can book, regardless of whether they have yet turned 55.

Indigenous adults are included in Phase 1 of Ontario’s vaccination plan. In a release issued Tuesday, Anishnawbe Mushkiki, one of several partners involved in the clinic, urged local residents to respect those guidelines.

“The Indigenous population has been identified as a priority in the first round of vaccination allocations,” the agency said. “In honouring and respecting the Indigenous population as a priority, we trust that the people will honour this position on servicing and abiding by these guidelines.”
