THUNDER BAY -- The head of the Ontario Pharmacists Association says three Thunder Bay pharmacies will be included when Ontario expands its pharmacy vaccine program.

Justin Bates, the OPA's chief executive officer, speaking to Thunder Bay Television on Tuesday confirmed the three stores, which he did not name, will be among the 365 stores added to the program later this week, bringing the total number of stores to 692. The province has said they want to more than double that to 1,500 stores province-wide.

It's expected it will take between three and five days for the program to be up and running in Thunder Bay. Canada received 1.5 million AstraZeneca vaccines on loan from the United States on Tuesday. They must travel from Ottawa to Toronto and then onward to Thunder Bay.

Ontario says the program is open to anyone between 60 and 64. Canada has recently paused the AstraZeneca vaccine for anyone younger than 55 after reports it may be linked to rare blood clots.
