THUNDER BAY — The Lakehead District School Board is increasing security after several acts of vandalism that occurred at Westgate CVI late last week.

The incidents included a fire that damaged a teepee outside the south end high school.

“Lakehead Public Schools was disappointed to learn that several individuals had recently vandalized several areas of Westgate CVI, including the teepee,” said a spokesperson for the board, in a written statement on Tuesday.

“We are working with police to identify the individuals.”

In the meantime, the spokesperson said that the board has taken several measures, including hiring nighttime security guards to “ensure no further vandalism occurs.”

As the incidents are now a police matter the board cannot provide any further comment, the spokesperson added.
