SHUNIAH, Ont. – Investigators with the Shuniah Fire Department are looking into a fire that destroyed a minivan on Sunday afternoon.
In a release issued on Monday, the department says the first crews arriving at the fire, which occurred on Silver Beach Drive, found the vehicle fully engulfed, with flames having spread to a nearby fence, grass and trees.
It had almost reached a nearby garage.
About 10 firefighters responded to the blaze, which broke out at about 12:30 p.m., along with the Ontario Provincial Police.
Crews left the scene by 2:45 p.m.
Shuniah Fire reminds the public that vehicle fires can be dangerous, adding the public should use caution, avoid the area and call 911.
