Vehicle fire leads to impaired charges

A Wednesday vehicle fire has led to impaired driving charges for a B.C. resident.

IGNACE, Ont. – A British Columbia resident is facing impaired driving charges after a motor vehicle fire on Highway 17.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, police were advised of an aggressive driver on Wednesday travelling on Highway 17, west of Ignace.

Officers received another report around 7:40 a.m. of a single vehicle on fire on Highway 17 in Revell Township.

As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old of Winlaw, B.C. has been charged with operation while impaired.

The accused will appear in Dryden Provincial Court on Oct. 26.

The OPP is committed to safety for all who utilize Ontario's roadways. Members of the public are urged to report Impaired Driving by calling 911 in emergency situations. Complaints of impaired, aggressive or careless driving can also be made by calling 1-888-310-1122.
