Four people were taken to hospital following a crash that sent two vehicles into the ditch along Highway 11/17.

The crash happened up the road from Amethyst Harbour Road around 4:30p.m. Sunday. Two vehicles were involved in the incident; one of the vehicles involved was flipped onto its side while the other drove into the ditch.

Thunder Bay OPP Sgt. David Moscall said he wasn’t sure about the extent of the injuries but everyone was able to walk around and talk to police.

“The scene is spread apart between 200 to 250 metres,” he said. “We had duel ambulances showing up at the scene as well as fire. It slowed down traffic for about 35 minutes or so but we appear to have things moving. I don’t believe people were delayed for too long.”

He said that tow trucks were already on their way to bring the vehicles out of the ditch and added that it was too soon to say if any charges will be laid.

The investigation is ongoing.
