KENORA— A pickup truck crashed through the weakening ice on Lake of the Woods on Sunday.
OPP in Kenora said a Manitoba resident was driving a pickup truck on an ice road near Clearwater Bay Sunday afternoon when the vehicle started sinking.
All the occupants were able to make it to safety without injury before the pickup became submerged.
Police issued a reminder to the public to use extreme caution when travelling over frozen waterways, especially in the spring when conditions can change quickly, and warmer weather can increase water flow beneath the ice.
They also said that when travelling with more than one vehicle, it's important to keep a safe distance between vehicles.
