Vehicle pursuit leads to multiple charges in Dryden

A Friday pursuit leads to multiple charges for one individual.

DRYDEN, Ont. – A Sioux Lookout resident is facing multiple charges following a pursuit on Friday.

According to a release, Dryden Police Service received a call on Friday, Aug. 14 from a concerned citizen in regards to a vehicle travelling erratically at high rates of speed.

Officers located the suspected vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop and fled from police again travelling at a high rate of speed through residential areas of the city.

Police say the vehicle was stopped, the suspect followed and a foot pursuit began.

A 22-year-old from Sioux Lookout was arrested and charged with flight from peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operation while impaired, resisting peace officer, two counts of failure to comply with release order, failure or refusal to comply with demand, having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available and multiple Highway Traffic Act violations.

The 22-year-old remains in custody with a court date of Aug. 21.
