City police have identified the woman believed to be the victim of the city’s second homicide.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers say Shannon Ashley Hogan, 30, was killed following an incident in the Lake Street area Tuesday morning.

Police say the post mortem of the body has started and is taking place in the city.

Police say Hogan was the victim of a violent assault in the early morning hours. The exact cause of death is being withheld by the force’s criminal investigations branch as they continue the investigation.

The crime scene in the alleyway behind Lake Street is expected to be released sometime Wednesday.

Police say Hogan was involved in the sex trade.

Police are reaching out to other women involved in the sex trade in an effort to inform them about the risks involved with that lifestyle.
