Victim sent to hospital after north side assault

Police say a 54-year-old woman had to be treated at the hospital after an assault early Thursday morning.

Police say a 54-year-old woman had to be treated at the hospital after an assault early Thursday morning.

Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say officers learned of a 911 call indicating that a woman had been assaulted and was bleeding at a South Algoma Street home shortly after midnight Thursday.

Officers arrived and assisted a 54-year-old woman who had been cut on her neck.

The victim was sent to the hospital via an ambulance.

She has since returned home.

During an investigation, police arrested a 31-year-old woman. The suspect has been charged with assault causing bodily harm.

The suspect remains in police custody.

Police say the victim and suspect were known to one another. Alcohol appears to have been a factor.
