Police have identified the two people killed in a weekend crash.
Officials with the OPP say Daniel Brooks, 28, and Michelle Parker, 28, both of Thunder Bay, died following a collision on Highway 61 Saturday.
OPP officers responded to the crash just before 3 a.m. at the Thunder Bay Expressway between Arthur Street and the Harbour Expressway involving a Chevrolet truck and PT Cruiser.
“The driver of a Chevrolet truck was southbound when he struck guardrails on the southbound side of the highway and the vehicle then veered across the highway and collided with a northbound Chrysler PT Cruiser,” said OPP Const. Diana Cole.
Both 28-year-old victims were occupants of the PT Cruiser. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other died from injuries in the hospital.
The driver of the Chevrolet truck suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The Expressway was closed for a significant portion of the morning and afternoon while investigators were on the scene. It was reopened around 3:30 p.m.
Cole described the investigation as “active and ongoing” but would not comment on any specific details of the investigation.
