Video: Cause of destructive Dryden fire deemed 'suspicious' (3 Photos)

Good Friday morning fire destroyed a once-thriving business.

DRYDEN, ON — The Dryden Police Service and Dryden Fire Service are both investigating a fire on the Good Friday weekend that destroyed a former motel and restaurant.

No one was injured.

Investigators are currently describing the cause of the blaze that tore through the Trans Canada Motel and Restaurant as suspicious.

The business, located near Highway 17, had been closed for several years.

Firefighters were called to the scene at around 3:20 Friday morning.

Initially, 19 crew members were assigned to the blaze. Oxdrift provided an additional seven firefighters.

The fire was declared out by about 1:00 p.m.

On Facebook, one post from a local resident recalled when the business was a going concern.

 "I worked there for 27 years and loved it. It was a great place to work one big happy family even the customers were like family," she said.
