THUNDER BAY – Lakehead’s Iranian Cultural Association plans to hold a vigil on Saturday in memory of those who lost their lives on Ukrainian International Airlines Flight PS752.
Sixty-three Canadians were among the 176 killed when the flight went down on Jan. 8.
Investigators are still combing the wreckage for a cause, although several media reports suggest it was an Iranian surface-to-air missile that brought the plane down, just after takeoff, outside of Tehran.
“We are deeply saddened by the crash of flight PS752 and for the families that have lost loved ones. In turn, we will be hosting a vigil to show our support and respect,” the local organization said on Thursday in a release.
The vigil will take place in the Agora on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
