THUNDER BAY -- City police have identified the homicide victim from a Dec. 29 incident at Villa Street.
Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say the body of 25-year-old Desmond Dennis Mathews was found at a Villa Street home. Mathews was pronounced dead at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
The discovery of the body after 7 p.m. Saturday began the city’s sixth homicide investigation of 2012.
A homeowner returned home to find a 23-year-old-man and a 25-year-old-man unconscious. Both were taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences.
The second man remains at the hospital where he is still listed in critical condition.
A post mortem examination was conducted on the body of Mathews in Thunder Bay on Dec. 31.
Results of that examination are being withheld as police say the information contains important elements to their investigation.
