A video showing a teenaged girl being swarmed and attacked by other teens at a movie theatre parking lot has gone viral, and now has the attention of local police.

Constance Schlievert said she saw the video Monday morning when she woke up and checked her Facebook account. The nearly five-minute video that features the alleged assault was already posted on her wall, and she said she was disgusted by what she saw.

“Much to my horror, there were children on this video that I know,” she told tbnewswatch.com Monday afternoon.

The video, now removed from Facebook, shows a group of teens outside of the Silver City movie theatre in Thunder Bay.

The alleged assault begins in the second half of the video when the camera focuses on a teen girl standing over another teen girl. The teen on the ground is turtled and appears to receive several punches from the girl above her.

The teen girl, now standing and walking away from her attacker, appears to be asking to be left alone. She even tries to hide behind another girl in the small crowd of onlookers.

Someone from outside of the camera’s field of view can be heard shouting what seems like an order to the attacker. This leads the attacker to chase down the victim, who falls to the ground. The girl on the ground is again punched several times in the back, shoulders and possibly head by the attacker standing above her.

“Stomp her head,” shouts one of the onlooking teens.

The video ends with a group of teens chasing down the victim as she attempts to walk away from the scene.

“One of those people even kicked that girl in the head,” Schlievert said, watching the video that was still available on her Facebook account at the time.

Schlievert said she went to the police, but wasn’t happy with the response. She said police told her over the phone that there wasn’t much they could do.

But police are looking into the incident, Thunder Bay Police Service spokesman Chris Adams said Monday.

“I can assure you that I’ve passed on the link to our criminal investigations branch,” Adams said. “As far as I know we have not heard from the victim. If the alleged victim of an assault wishes to contact police, we would strongly encourage her to do so.”

Adams added that anyone with information regarding the identity of the people in the video are being encouraged to contact police.
