Downtown assault leads to pair of arrests

Two arrested in late afternoon incident,

THUNDER BAY -- City police have arrested two people after an assault on Saturday evening in the city's downtown south core.

Police say their major crimes unit has responded to investigate the incident, which was reported by Victoriaville Mall security. An adult male was sent to hospital with injuries. Two adult males have been taken into custody.

A short while later, at least one person was seen in handcuffs being placed in the back of a police cruiser on Violet Street. Police were also seen entering an apartment complex on the corner of Violet and May streets. It's not clear if the two incidents are connected.
