The area around Grandview Arena was filled with a mix of senior citizens and elementary school students Wednesday afternoon, spreading the message that seniors rock.
Police officers, seniors, and students from St. Bernard School took part in the third annual Seniors Rock Walk to bring attention to World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
More than 100 people participated in the walk to make people aware that seniors should be treated with respect and not abused.
The event was hosted by the Community Elder Abuse Committee. Patricia Mallette, a local senior, said the group is a valuable asset in the seniors' community.
June has been designated as Seniors’ Month across Ontario.
