Walleye season opens Saturday, May 21and officials with Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources is reminding anglers to have their fishing license on them at all times
Conservation Officer Ross Johnston said MNR officials will be on the lakes this weekend and they will be asking to see anglers’ licenses.
Johnston also reminds anglers that they will be expected to pay attention to other restrictions.
“There are restrictions of the sizes of fish,” he said. “You are allowed to have one walleye over 18 inches, and the fish have to remain measurable while you are on the water. You can fillet them once you are off the water.”
Johnston added that anglers should keep a small patch of skin on their fillet so that conservation officers can still tell what kind of species this catch is.
