THUNDER BAY -- Holy Family staff are clearly smarter than the average bear.

The Rosslyn Road school was put under a shelter-in-place order on Monday morning, after a bear was spotted wandering through the area, the bruin eventually making its way across the street from the school.

"All students and staff are safe and secure inside the building," reads a post on the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board's Facebook page.

"We are working closely with authorities and will continue to monitor the situation closely. The shelter-in-place will remain in effect until it is deemed safe to resume regular activity."

The shelter-in-place prefer was lifted just after 22:30 p.m.

Updates will be provided by the board as they become available.
