Wardrope Avenue closed following collision with hydro pole

Wardrope Avenue is expected to remain closed for approximately eight hours and police are reminding motorists to exercise caution on roads that can be hazardous in extreme cold conditions.

THUNDER BAY - A north side street will remain closed for several hours following a single motor vehicle collision Saturday morning.

Thunder Bay Police are advising motorists that Wardrope Avenue between Superiorview Drive and Belton Street will remain closed for approximately eight hours as Thunder Bay Hydro crews work to repair the pole.

The collision took place Saturday morning just before 11 a.m. There were no reports of injuries.

Thunder Bay Police, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, and Superior North EMS also responded to a two-vehicle collision on Memorial Avenue near Isabel Street Saturday morning. The vehicles sustained minor damage and there were no reports of injuries.

Police are reminding drivers to exercise caution during the cold weather, as frigid temperatures can make road surfaces that appear bare extremely slippery. Motorists should allow extra time for travel and adjust driving based on road conditions.
