Washout closes Highway 17 near Kenora

THUNDER BAY -- A substantial sinkhole, caused by a washout, has closed a section of Highway 17. 

The Ministry of Transportation says the incident occurred near marker 108 near Richard Lake in Kenora at about 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday. 

There is no detour available. 

No estimate for the highway's reopening was given.
