Washout closes sections of Highway 599, Highway 105

Highway closed just south of Pickle Lake.

PICKLE LAKE -- Highway 599 south of Pickle Lake, Ont. and Highway 105 near Red Lake have been closed because of washouts.

Ontario Provincial Police on Sunday morning said Highway 599 is closed in both directions, effectively cutting Pickle Lake off from the rest of the province.

Highway 105 is closed in both directions south of Chukunki Bridge at Caribou Creek, about midway between Ear Falls and Red Lake.

Several other roads in the area have been flooded or washed out, and water is also creeping toward Highway 17 near Revell River.

It's unknown how long the two closed highways will remain closed.
